This was a stunning display of regional and local produce. It is somehow moving to think that such markets have been operating for no doubt thousands of years long before shops as we know them - AND that they continue to this day. There was a huge amount of fruit and vegetables in particular, along with most other consumables - and it was very popular and busy. The market is advertised as open from 06:00 to 13:30, but I have not ascertained whether they start setting up BEFORE 06:00! In any case, it is a reminder of how hard the often under-appreciated farmers and artisans work.
