Horb is a beautiful little town, with a very old centre and some newer areas with light industry and commerce. Twenty-nine km from Freudenstadt on the way to Stuttgart, it is a town very proud of its history and yet seems very active and go-ahead. In the summer there is a magnificent mediaeval festival with lots of people dressed up as knights, with jousting, falconry and so on.

The old town is - as is so often the case in Germany - full of stunning "Fachwerk" houses. It is well worth a visit if you are in the Schwarzwald.
