I was sitting in my seat at Wembly waiting for the cup final to start, and next to me was an empty seat. The man on the other side of the free seat leaned across and said:
"What a waste! Fancy paying all this money for a prime seat and not turning up."
I explained that the seat was for my wife but she had passed away and this was the first time for 20 years that we had not watched the final together.
"Couldn't you have given the ticket to a relative?" he asked.
"No" I answered: "They're all at the funeral." |
