A man travelling home in a taxi noticed that the driver had taken a wrong turning, so he leaned forward and gently tapped him on the shoulder. The driver let out a blood-curdling scream and lost control of the vehicle. The taxi swerved onto the wrong side of the road, just missing a bus, mounted the pavement, clipped a pillarbox and stopped a foot away from a shop front.
The driver just sat in silence for about 10 seconds and then very slowly turned round.
"Don't ever do that again," he said.
"Sorry," said the passenger. "I didn't realise that you were so nervous."
"This is my first day as a taxi driver," replied the driver. "For the past 20 years I've been driving hearses."
