When I knew I would be going to work in Essassa, Gabon, I looked it up on the internet - but didn't find much! It is a small village lying mostly on either side of the N1 from Libreville to Lambarene in the interior. Monte Carlo it is not, but it was home to the Lycée Berthe et Jean (and me!) - and an interesting and picturesque place with very welcoming people.
All the photos on this site were taken in 2009 at the latest, and I am told the village is much changed. However, here is a small historical record from a decade ago!
