Jack's old truck keeps breaking down, and when it finally gives up the ghost as he is taking Lisa to a friend's wedding it's the last straw. All the family nag him to get a new one, but of course, he is famous for not liking change. However, so stubborn is he that we begin to suspect there may be more than just his usual stubbornness involved, but in true Bartlett family tradition he won't talk about the real reasons for not wanting to give up his beloved truck. A moving episode, and beautifully acted as usual.
He finally agrees to buy a modern truck, but is so exasperated that he takes off on his own up to his mountain cabin. During the night he dreams of his departed wife Lyndy, the country singer who had given him the truck all those years ago. It is his last link with her - like Spartan's with Amy - and seeing it go off to the breakers had been too much to bear. In the night he dreams of Lyndy and the day she had given him the truck in that very spot.

Jack hates his new, modern truck and manages to find a replica of his old one. Lyndy's will have a permanent resting place on the ranch.
